Oxford Products Racing 2020 - Team Launch

Oxford Products hosted the launch of their team’s 2020 BSB race season in conjunction with Moto Rapido Ducati. The new shortened season will run from 7th August to 18th October, cramming 18 action-packed Superbike races into just 6 meetings.

This follows a highly successful campaign in 2019, Oxford’s first year partnered with Moto Rapido, in which Tommy Bridewell rode to a remarkable 3rd place in the championship.

Tommy Bridewell was there to admire the bike’s new livery and try on the new team kit, now available from Clinton Enterprises.

Tommy was having a closer look at the bike which is superficially the same but, after months of development work, is actually packed with many small changes, with weight reduction a key factor. Tommy himself has lost several pounds as a result of intensive endurance training! Team manager Iain Hopcroft describes the development period:-

“The team has spent the extra time we have had this year in further developing the bike. We have worked with several suppliers, such as Fullsix Carbon and RaceBolt, to look to reduce the weight of the bike to the minimum limit - which we have achieved.

We have a few motor updates from Ducati Corse, but our main improvement on power has been from the exhaust system by Termignoni. Now their fully supported team in BSB, we have managed to work with them and our own electronics package to improve some of the areas where we needed more power.

Of course we are confident for the 2020 season, but we don’t underestimate our competition. The other teams will be aware of how we performed 2019 so will be looking to improve their packages. We expect many more podiums 2020.”
The bike’s livery, already hailed as one of the smarter in the BSB paddock, has retained its overall scheme but been further refined in receiving some new sponsor logos. Team owner Steve ‘Wilf’ Moore describes preparations for a very different kind of race season:

“2020 has been a bizarre year for motorsport, so we are very pleased to continue with title sponsor Oxford Products in 2020 and welcome several new sponsors to our team. Most recently Tracker UK, a well established leader in vehicle security, tracking and recovery, something all bikers have in mind. We also welcome Rockoil , Super Soco and Avon Forest services. The 2020 livery looks stunning with a modified front fairing design and their logos proudly displayed. The whole team are prepared and ready for the new challenge of 18 race format in 2020 and we’re looking forward to testing the 2020 spec bike.”

On which note, also in attendance were new team sponsors TRACKER and SUPER SOCO.

Several Oxford staff were seen exiting from the back of the building when a police bike and stealth pursuit car arrived in the car park, until it was pointed out that they were there to demonstrate the close partnership that TRACKER has with the UK police. TRACKER’s bespoke motorcycle solution (Tracker Vantage) is distributed exclusively in the UK by Oxford Products.
Andy Fenwick from the UK’s leading electric scooter company SUPER SOCO delivered paddock bikes for both Tommy and the team to use this season. He also brought along his co-branded Citroen C3 R5 rally car, which he competes in the UK and Europe to promote his company’s rather quieter products.
