The Bull-it 17 range is tested to the new standard EN17092 for abrasion resistance (currently in draft): we have the style, fit and protection for you.
Testing – To Pass testing the garment construction as well as the materials have to achieve performance levels, just 3 of many are; impact abrasion, cut and burst resistance. This will give you peace of mind that the whole garment has been tested and all of the garment is lined with a safety protection liner that offers the highest level of protection.
The Bull-it range consists of three styles of protection, the Stealth which is the lightest in the range, Covec yarn is woven directly into the denim structure to make a very strong Oneskin protective layer, tested to AA. The SP120 Lite range is a light weight jean with a pure Covec protection, lined in the major impact zones (back side, hip, thigh and knee) tested to AAA standard. The SP120 SR6 range offers the most protection, lined from the hips to half way down the shin to allow for the jean to be tucked into a tall boot. The SR6 range is also tested to AAA standard.
The diagram to the right clearly displays the style of protection each line of product offers.
The Covec™ yarn used in our Bull-it products provides low thermal conductivity and a high melting point, preventing additional consequential burns in a crash scenario. Materials with high conductivity and low melting point like UHMWPE are less suitable suitable in situations where heat is produced due to friction.
Any product may incorporate high performance fibers and yarns but its performance will be defined in certain circumstances by the lowest common denominator in any given situation.
The 5-layer laminated construction of Covec™ allows for a thermal barrier to extreme weather conditions, in hot weather the heat of the day is held at bay by the natural low thermal performance of Covec™ and the micro-climate created by the channeling in the fabric. This also works in cold weather keeping the body temperature inside the jeans and the cold out.
Covec's™ own CE EN 1621 Approved Impact Protectors for all joints increase the overall level of protection, using the latest impact load spread technology. Covec™ Impact Division has started making it’s own Impact Protectors in early 2014 and is offering a complete package of Impact Protectors for both jeans and jackets.
The CE EN 1621 Approved phantom protectors are delivered in the Stealth range of products as standard, for the LITE and SR6 ranges, limb protectors are optional addition, all products have protector pockets. Our jackets have CE EN 1621 Approved elbow and shoulder protectors as standard, and a large back protector pocket for optional protector.
All materials used in motorcycle clothing will degrade due to UV exposure, some materials degrade faster than others when exposed. You may think that this shouldn't be an issue with lined protective products for example, but UV-Rays will partially penetrate the exterior, slowly degrading the protective material inside. The material should also be kept away from UV-rays while in a washing cycle. The Covec™ laminate provides added UV protection in both scenarios.
The weak points in garments considering burst resistance are the seams, as the fabrics themselves are generally quite strong, stronger than the seams. You could generally say that when at least triple stitching is used with a fairly high tensile strength yarn the EN 13595-1 Level 2 standard can be passed. Bull-it Jeans uses triple stitching in most seams of their jeans.
A 20 oz twill or denim is not going to bend and move for most garment uses. A 5 oz twill or denim is not going to provide heavy jeans or jackets. Knowing that twills or denim runs from 5 to 20 oz and that the less the weight, the lighter, softer loft the fabric will have. Bull-it Jeans uses 12oz weights in their jeans and other products for optimal wear comfort while still having a strong and heavy denim. In the ladies jeans we also use stretch denim or twill.
We have jeans for everyone, our "17" range are tagged and colour coded in 3 cuts, Slim, Straight and Easy. The Slim range use our 12oz stretch denim, normal fit on the upper leg and tapper in at the lower leg for a fashionable fitted look. Our Straight range is a classic boot cut, using 12oz denim through a straight leg. Our Easy range is a more relaxed fit, offering slightly more room in the hip, thigh and knee areas of the jean to maximize comfort without sacrificing style.
All Bull-it Jeans are finished with a water repellent coating that will repel light rain for short periods. A reproofer is also available.
Bull-it products have Bull-it Jeans branding on the rivets and buttons, the inside waistband and on a leather patch. Bull-it Jeans are the only licensed motorcycle jeans brand to use Covec™ liners and therefore have a Covec™ label sown to the back pocket.
